ISDE - International Six Days Enduro

Taupo, November 2006

 Well what an event! More than 600 dedicated riders, both international and NZ, and it was amazing to see so many of you pull together to support our riders. What a huge effort by the club, our riders and Sean Clarke & co. Murray also rode well and came away with a bronze. Merv suffered from a nigling problem with his RM that eventually caused his retirement.

And our lads did us proud! Paul, Phil and Chris Singleton earned themselves Silver Medals. Wow. Reece Burgess was 'cooking with gas' too and right up there until a small mistake on a gravel section in heavy rain saw him hit the deck hard and carve up his elbow (see photo on photos page). And the tragedy is that this was on Day 5 on a section that was later canned (in fact the rest of the day was canned due to the number of riders wet and cold out in the forests). The resulting free trips to hospital meant that Reece couldn't get back to put his bike into Parce Ferme in time and was then out of the event.

But overall a superb effort by all involved.
